Weatherford Place
June 17, 2008
Weatherford Place in Roswell, GA is named after Louis Weatherford, who originally owned the property. Mr. Weatherford was a gardner and farmer who used to recycle the seeds from the vegetables, flowers, and fruit he grew. Following in this tradition the homes that will be built on the land will recycle as well. The eight houses on the 1.6 acres of land bordering Crossville Creek will be net-zero energy homes. Homes will have a price tag of around $750,000 each and have 2,500 to 3,900 square feet.
Weatherford Place is the creation of Cadmus Construction a company that is a one stop shop of architectural design, landscape, construction and development. Three business partners make up Cadmus Construction, they are; Simone du Boise, Dan Downey, and Denise Donahue.
Each home in Weatherford Place will generate more power than it needs, thus being able to be called, net-zero energy homes.
They will produce PV electricity which is sold to Georgia Power at 18 cents/kw hour and bought back off peak at 8 cents/kw hour. The homes will use two thirds less energy than a typical house.
They will feature a rain harvesting 1,880 gallon cistern placed underground to catch rainwater for irrigation. Municipal water will be used for consumption.
Lifetime Warranties on both electric and solar hot water tanks, high efficiency custom windows and doors with aluminum cladding exteriors and rich hardwood interior finishes include Zo-e-shieldT glass, the world’s best energy glass (reflects winter solar heat back into room, rejects summer sun’s heat and reduces window heat gain by 73%).
The entire community is designed to a platinum LEED level which makes it the first platinum LEED level community in the United States.

Terramont Subdivision in Roswell is a Great Place for First Time Home Buyers
April 16, 2008
For those of you that may not know, I purchased my first home, a foreclosure in Terramont Subdivison in December of 2007. I initially looked at homes in Roswell in the subdivisions of Lake Forrest, Martin’s Landing, Sherringham, and Barrington Farms as well as in the subdivisions of Berkshire Manor and Summercrest in Alpharetta. As a first time home buyer I wasn’t looking to spend much over $200,000. I really love Terramont Subdivision because of it’s great location, just off of Holcomb Bridge Road and close to Georgia 400. It is close to both Perimeter Mall and North Point Mall and not a far drive to downtown Atlanta and lots of restaurants.
Horseshoe Bend
April 4, 2008
We were drawn to the Horseshoe Bend Neighborhood back in 1998 when we made our move from St Louis, Missouri. As we were driven around by our then Real Estate agent, we were also surprised by the small town Historic appeal of Roswell Georgia. Offering everything from great outdoor activities to antique and upscale shopping and fine restaurants, this awesome location just felt right. We chose Horseshoe Bend which is a large subdivision comprised of about 1200 homes subdivided into smaller groups appealing to a variety of income levels. The original tract was developed around Willow Lake in the late 1970’s. This is a gorgeous setting with mature Hardwoods, Pine Trees, and beautiful natural and introduced landscaping. Homes surrounding this lake vary in price from $375k to $800k plus, and worth every penny as you look out through your sun room window at your private lake view. If you are a fisherman like me you would certainly enjoy hopping in your boat on a whim and catch a few bass for some afternoon fun!
If you fancy River life, the very name Horseshoe Bend is a semi-circular boundary formed by the Chattahoochee River where homes can range up to $2,000,000.00, and usually have expansive lots with tremendous views. A big part of this bend in the river surrounds the Horseshoe Bend Country Club where several of the golf holes parallel the beautiful river setting. This challenging course has undergone a major renovation a couple of years ago and the result is extraordinary!
The main artery, Steeple Chase Drive, is striped for running or cycling on both sides for safe travel, and is intermixed with paved trails accessing the two lakes and their respective open/play areas. Offering Swimming at an Olympic size pool, world class golf, many PGA professionals have played here, a world class Tennis facility, hiking, cycling, and my favorite fishing, what more could you want in a neighborhood?
