Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park to Open in May

April 21, 2008

The Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park is scheduled to open this year in May. It is being built just off Westside Parkway near GA 400 in Alpharetta. The 12,000 seat amphitheatre is expected to hold approximately 55 events during its inaugural year including concerts, community events and movie nights.

The amphitheatre is the outdoor home to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. In addition to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra this summer will also feature these famous performers: The Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Stevie Nicks, Steely Dan, moe w/spcial guest Keller Williams, Tom Petty (my personal favorite!), Foreigner & Bryan Adams, Rush, Julie Andrews with the ASO, Yes, and Rod Stewart…there will be plenty of more scheduled in the coming months!

Swallow at the Hollow Brings Nashville Performers to Roswell

March 31, 2008

The Swallow at the Hollow is a cozy barbeque restaurant featuring live entertainment. Nashville’s premier bluegrass and country music singer/songwriter/artists Friday and Saturday nights (small cover charge).

On Wednesday nights inside and on Thursday nights outside talented local artists perform. On Sunday nights the duo Tom and Julie perform inside.

All food is homemade and I would strongly suggest the pulled pork sandwiches and the macaroni and cheese (even adults will love this favorite!). I can’t say that I’m a big fan of bluegrass or country music, but my recent visit with my family proved to be a lot of fun. The artists put on a very intimate show and the food is excellent…and where else in Roswell (aside from some kids floating down the hooch!) can you find a canoe full of beer?
