The Rosewater Theatre proudly announces that they will be opening up their new theatre in Roswell on February 1, 2008.

The Rosewater Theatre has proudly produced numerous professional quality shows at The Cumming Playhouse in Cumming, GA, since December 2004, which is also located along Georgia’s Hospitality Highway. The owners Lisa and G. Scott Riley decided it was time to finally expand and are just thrilled to be bringing one of Roswell’s theatres back to life.

The new Rosewater Theatre located at 633 Holcomb Bridge Road is on the corner of Holcomb Bridge Rd and Highway 9 in the Roswell Village shopping center. The theatre used to house the Roswell Village Playhouse, an extremely popular venue in the 90’s and has two stages, a proscenium and a theatre in the round, which is the only permanent one of its kind in the entire state of Georgia. The new Rosewater Theatre aims to provide fabulous professional quality entertainment to all ages as well as numerous children’s programs, acting classes and dancing lessons for both adults and children, drama camps and much more.

Numerous renovations have been done to the theatre, which was in desperate need of an update. The lobby and bathrooms have been completely revamped and updated and the theatre is elegantly decorated. For those of you who may have crossed through its doors in times past you may not recognize it today. “The transformation is just amazing,” states Lisa Sherouse Riley, Managing Director and co-owner of The Rosewater Theatre. “When we first moved into the theatre the walls were all cinderblock including the bathrooms, the ceilings were painted dark blue, the walls were painted light blue and grey and it had three different color carpets as well as numerous types of really old dark brown tile. I really thought it would take us months to get it into shape but it has only taken two months,” adds Sherouse Riley.

“We are so excited to open our new space with two wonderful shows,” states G. Scott Riley, Artistic Director of The Rosewater Theatre and co-owner. “Greater Tuna, a hysterical southern comedy will open up on February 1st and will be performed on the proscenium stage and See How They Run, a wonderful British comedy will open up on February 8th and will be performed in the theatre in the round. We have a great season lined up for our patrons including the popular Neil Simon comedy, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, the musical Nunsense, by Dan Goggin and Dearly Departed, a hysterical comedy that will have people rolling in the aisles,” Riley adds

Both shows will be performed on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets for both shows are $16 and $18. Tickets can be purchased at The Rosewater Theatre box office or online at www.rosewatertheatre.com or by calling ahead to the Rosewater Theatre at 770-640-5500. The Rosewater Theatre, located at 633 Holcomb Bridge Rd is easily accessible from Georgia 400. Parking is free. For more information and directions, please visit www.rosewatertheatre.com.
